Just In the Nick of Time
When 13-year old Michael Adams of Crane severed his arm in a 1999 farming accident, he endured a grueling, solo journey on a four-wheeler and on foot, carrying his own arm to the nearest farmhouse several miles away. The quick actions of a kind-hearted neighbor, the first response team, Harney District EMS and Air Life of Oregon resulted in reattachment of the limb at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.

"When we got to OHSU, they told us that from the time of the accident to surgery time, they have a window of only six hours for successful reattachment," explained Richard Adams, Michael's father. "The speed of the ambulance crews and the airplaneit's that speed that saved his arm."
